Everything you need to know about the New Skin Bio-Remodelling Injectable Treatment (available from August 2022)

How long has this been used overseas?

This injectable skin treatment was approved for use in Italy in February 2015 and since approved in Europe and UK.

What is the active ingredient?

The main ingredient is very similar to the temporary dermal fillers currently used world wide.  The  difference is the concentration – it is 2 to 3 times higher than existing dermal fillers, and the molecular complex size are different and the molecules are not cross-linked with BDDE bonds.

What is the difference between dermal fillers and this Bio-Remodelling Skin Treatment?

Traditional dermal fillers are cross-linked to create a viscous gel which lifts and contours when injected into the face.  The new skin Bio-Remodelling Skin Treatment does not act like usual dermal fillers – they do not act like a “water sponge” to lift and contour the face.  Instead a higher concentration of uncross-linked molecular complexes flow uniformly through the tissues to expand and stimulate tissue repair, supporting cell viability.   The result is bio-remodelling of the extracellular matrix, increased elastin and collagen expression.  In summary, it provides immediate “glow” and short term collagen stimulation and kick start repair process of the integrity of the skin.

How many treatments are required?

This depends on the condition of skin, and the age of the patient.  In general, the recommendation is 2-3 treatments, 1 month apart for someone who has never been treated and afterwards, maintain every 6-12 months.

Patients usually notice their skin is “plumper”, firmer and wrinkles “softer”.  This is a “skin treatment” and not in the same category as dermal filler.

What benefits has scientific studies shown?

3D images taken before and after treatments and images as measured by 3D Lifeviz mini cameras and Quantificare have all shown positive change in volume.  Clinical studies have shown increased in facial volume, improved hydration and elasticity.

Who are suitable for this procedure?

This is a very safe procedure for anyone who wishes to improve their skin elasticity and firmness, reduce acne scars through collagen stimulation, biostimulation and repair.  It can be used in all age groups to achieve a natural “glow” in their skin.

Do I need to have other treatments?

You can combine this Bio-remodelling treatment with traditional dermal fillers or other collagen stimulators (in deeper layers) or Lasers, please speak to our doctors to discuss a treatment plan to address your goals, to suit your budget, your stage of life.

What do I expect during a treatment?

This skin treatment is easily delivered via 5 injection points on each side of the face.  We can apply topical anaesthesia to the skin prior to injections.  You will notice local swelling for the first couple of days.  The product will flow to the surrounding anatomical region, and any swelling and bruising will settle after a few days.  In some situations we customise the treatment in other areas of the face and neck.

When will I see results and how much?

For most patients with mild to moderate skin laxity, you will notice the skin feel and look more hydrated after the first treatment.  However for the majority of patients, they will notice more visible volume increase, firmness and elasticity a few weeks after the second treatment.  Some patients with more severe skin laxity may need more treatments.  To maintain results repeat treatment every 6-12 months is advised.

Each syringe of Bio-remodeller contains 2 mls and usually 1 ml is used for each side.  The fee is $700 (for one 2 ml syringe).  However experience tell us that neck may require more products.
