Cosmetic mole removal is a common request by patients in our clinic. These moles, or other lesions can be removed non surgically without the use of scalpel or stitches.
Dr Wong removes cosmetic moles using his Ellman Surgitron (electrosurgical radiofrequency ablation), or using Fotona Erbium Laser technique.
The procedure is performed using a small amount of local anaesthetics. The lesions removed are sent for histological confirmation. Following the procedure it is advisable to apply a wound healing gel (such as Solosite initially followed by a silicone wound gel later) regularly for at least 4 to 12 weeks, to promote formation of new skin. Full wound healing may take up to 6 to 12 months in some patients.
All patients will require an initial consultation to confirm the diagnosis of skin lesions and discuss the procedure. Initial consultation applies. (Fees guide: Initial Consultation fee from $115. Cosmetic mole removal from $350** for the first facial cosmetic mole, $50 extra for each additional mole. There are no medicare rebates for cosmetic mole removal procedure or consultation, as it is considered a cosmetic procedure.)
Individual variation in results exists, depending on personal or family history of scarring, ethnicity, anatomical site, health status, post-operative wound care. Patient evaluation and explanation of risks is essential prior to procedure.n
**Cosmetic mole removal fee may be different in difficult anatomical locations.
After the procedure, we strongly encourage all patients to attend follow up appointments as this will provide opportunities to identify any complications which may include wound infection, hypertrophic scar formation, which can be managed if identified using simple treatments such as antibiotics or cortisone injections. It is our goal to achieve the best possible results for our patients. Follow up consultations generally will not attract out of pocket fees.
The cost of post-procedure medications such as wound care medications, antibiotics, silicone gel or sheet, cortisone medications are not included in the procedural fees.
